We should sue.
Every group is included in Mayor Zohran Mamdani's celebratory map of NYC ethnic neighborhoods.
Except Italians!
If this isn’t discrimination, then I don’t know what is.
There's Little Ecuador, Little Yemen, even Little Tibet...but not Little Italy!
Neither is there Bensonhurst nor Staten Island. Arthur Avenue in the Bronx was ommitted. As was Carroll Gardens. It’s like Italians never existed.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani's official immigrant neighborhood map is an insult to all Italian Americans. Was the exclusion on purpose? If so, the Italian American community may have grounds for a lawsuit.

Where are the Italians? The latest map by Mayor Mamdani shows every ethnic group but the Italians. Was this intentional?

We are New York!
A century before Mamdani was born, Italians arrived in massive numbers. New York depended on Italian labor to construct bridges, tunnels, subways, churches, schools, and neighborhoods—the very neighborhoods this mayor presents as an official map of immigrant communities…without a single Italian enclave!
Wake up Italian Americans! You’re being erased from the very city you created and maintain to this day!
Italian Americans endured discrimination, poverty, dangerous working conditions, and social prejudice while helping build one of the world's greatest cities. Their story is inseparable from New York's story. Why then were we excluded?
The mayor’s office found room to recognize dozens of immigrant communities while excluding the neighborhoods that has symbolized the Italian immigrant experience for generations.

Millions of Italian immigrants arrived to build New York a century before Mamdani was born
______
No Friend to the Italians
Don’t buy City Hall’s argument that the map was never intended to be comprehensive. They left out the most famous Italian immigrant neighborhood—Little Italy, Manhattan. How could such an omission occur?
Mamdani is no friend to the Italian American community. We represent about 800,000 in New York—one of the largest ethnic groups in the city. Sure, Mamdani will say he loves us. He will probably be seen eating at a pizzeria any day, now, for the photo op. Yet, deep down he finds us repulsive. We’re Catholic. We make up the ranks of the police and first responders. We believe in the free enterprise system. We’re unapologetically pro-American. We're everything this mayor hates.
Whether the exclusion resulted from indifference, poor judgment, or a deeply flawed understanding of New York's immigrant history, the message is the same. The contributions of Italian Americans are to expunged from public perception, under this mayoralty.
We demand respect. We demand an apology. We demand this map forever erased.
We can’t sit back. We have to go on offense. Was this slight intentional? If so, what does Mamdani and his staff have in store for us in the coming weeks and months ahead? If he erased the Italian Americans from a map, why not Columbus? Why not Cabrini? Why not Fiorello LaGuardia? Italian Americans—fight back!
We're not relics. We're not bystanders. We’re an enduring part of New York's cultural, economic, religious, and civic life. Our presence will be preserved. Mayor Mamdani—we’re not going anywhere!
